Severely Injured Scholarship

Who is eligible for the scholarship?

Service members from any branch of the U.S. military who have been severely injured in the line of duty and his/her spouse are eligible.

What does the "Severely Disabled Scholarship" cover?

This scholarship covers 50% of tuition for your degree or certification program. The scholarship will be applied to your total program tuition. Seven of these scholarships are available in 2008.

You should also note that in addition to the "Severely Disabled Scholarship", American Sentinel University has a "Military Scholarship" offered to all military members, veterans, auxiliary, and spouses. The "Military Scholarship" provides books, software, shipping, and fees at no cost to those eligible.

How do I apply?

STEP 1) Submit an online SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM or fill out a paper copy and fax/mail it to American Sentinel University to the address below.

STEP 2) In addition to the application you need to submit (email, fax or mail) the following documents:

  • Disability documentation
  • A 300-word essay describing how this scholarship and education would impact your future
  • Documentation of income
  • Copies of high school or college transcripts

When are the scholarships awarded?

The seven scholarships will be awarded throughout the year; 2 in June, 3 in August and 2 in October.

  • June scholarship applications must be received by May 15th; recipients will be notified May 22nd.
  • August applications must be received by July 14th; recipients will be notified July 21st
  • October applications must be received by September 15th; recipients will be notified September 22nd.

Applicants will be selected based primarily on financial need. Additional consideration will be given to prior academic achievement and content of the application essay.
